- In 1874, Cochise died peacefully and was secretly buried in the Dragoon
Mountaines in an area today called the Cochise Stronghold.
- Cochise was the leader of the Central Chiricahua Apaches and son-in-law
to Mangas Coloradas.
- Cochise's arrest in 1861 led to warfare. Mangas Coloradas was wounded,
and Cochise carried him 100 miles into Mexico for treatment.
