DEFENSIVE LINEMAN (Defense)

Batting: The maneuver refers to the intentional striking of the football with the hand or arm (i.e. a defensive lineman bats down a quarterback's pass).

Recover: To gain possssion of a fumbled ball.

Spearing: The maneuver in which one player deliberately tries to injure another player by lunging at him helmet first.

Blind-Side Block: A block which is directed at a player by an unseen opponent.
