Homemade Banana (Vargas and Gulling) Recipe

Miscellaneous Untried Recipes

This is from a collection of recipes from books I own, but which I haven't myself tried yet. However, you can have faith that at least the authors themselves have tried them, so they're not deadly or anything.

From Cordials From Your Kitchen by Pattie Vargas and Rich Gulling:

Boil sugar and water together, let stand to cool. Add vanilla. Place mashed bananas in clean 1-quart jar. Add syrup and vodka. Cover and steep for 3 to 4 days, stiring or shaking once or twice a day to prevent clumping.

Strain and filter. The mixture will still be cloudy, so let it stand until it clears, and then rack. Age for 1 month.
