Homemade Ginger (Kalafut) Recipe

From correspondent Ben Kalafut

I've found that a slight modification to the ginger liqueur recipes out there produces a delightfully smooth result.

I'm thinking also that this liqueur might make a tasty glaze or addition to a pan sauce for chicken.

Combine ginger, water, sugar and molasses in a saucepan; bring to boil. Remove from heat, let cool; transfer to container and add vodka. Stir quickly to mix ingredients thoroughly and store in a cool, dark place for one month.

Rack, filter, and bottle. The cordial is now ready for serving.
